Karl Reed, a construction worker, was working on Monday afternoon when he was killed. Reed who was 49 years old, was killed by falling concrete. It appears that a piece of concrete became disconnected from the crane cable causing the concrete to fall and hit Reed.

Plainfield police are currently investigating the accident to determine what caused the concrete to fall and kill Reed. If it was a faulty mechanism on the crane then the crane company and/or Reed's employer may be at fault for the wrongful death of Reed.
