Thirteen year old Samuel Coberly Jr. of Park Ridge, Illinois was killed Thursday morning when he was on his way to school. He was riding his bicycle on Touhy Avenue when he was hit and killed by a semi-truck. His father tried to revive him but was unsuccessful.

It is unclear at this time how the truck collided with the boy, but it appears that the truck was not speeding at the time. The family of Samuel Coberly Jr. may be entitled to file a wrongful death suit against the truck driver and the trucking company if the truck driver was the cause of the boy's death.

I am so sorry for the parents and dont understand why there is no traffic sign posted and the speed limit is not enforced on Touhy avenue. On May 5th at dusk my mom was crossing cossing Touhy ave a block from Aldine where Samuel Colby was killed threr were no cars coming so she stepped off the sidewalk and a white car came racing at very high speed she jumped back and was not hit but our precious dog baby who was on the leash was hit and killed instantly the car did not even stop. We called the police and asked why there was no sign posted to slow the cars down these incidents happened while crossing to go to a park there is also a school a block away and the communiy center is right there.Children young teens and many people walking to go to the park or walk their dogs cross here. We told the police there should be a posted enforced speed limit. They said a Park Ridge Traffic control officer would take care of this. My mom said please do something so many children cross here you dont want another tragedy to happen here. To us it was our beloved puppy and almost my mom. 12 days later a child was killed we cant even imagine their grief. We are angry no one cared about a dog and then a child was killed. If you walk on this stretch of
Touhy avenue the cars are. still speeding the people drive way too fast. Signs must be posted or another senseless tragedy will happen. Please call write make someone listen or if you live in Park Ridge it may just happen to someone you love.
