The family of a former New York City police officer who died three years ago has filed a nursing home neglect lawsuit against Brooklyn's Metropolitan Jewish Geriatric Center.

Abraham Ticknor lived at the nursing home from the time he suffered a stroke in the mid 1990s until his death in 2003.

His daughter says that beginning in March 2003, the geriatric center did nothing to prevent massive bed sores from developing, and at one point even put a shoe over a foot ulcer.

In what is possibly the most disturbing allegation, Skier claims in legal papers that Ticknor had some sort of "phone-like" cord inserted into his rectum at Maimonides, and that it remained there for days.

The nursing home has been cited before for negligent care resulting in bedsores. It was fined $4000 by the Department of Health in 2001.

I hope and pray that the family of the policeman who was treated in such a terrible way will be stoppped. My mother was assisted in death by her doctor as well as the nursing home that she was in. I have attempted to get help, but I was told that nothing could be done period. Also false medicaid forms on things were turned in. Still no help.

I pray the family of the policeman and Rosie find the help they need to persue this as far as they can go. The elderly should not be abused and should be treated as their caretakers want to be treated.

My mother was in a nursinghome for 13 days. Her admission papers and dnr and others have all different signatures. She had bruises on her face and a ring mark by her eye as well as a bite mark on her arm.

I have went to 3 different attorneys and they tell me that I do not have a case. Mainly because the doctor said she had cancer of the brain. I disagree but as my sister was executor and poa she did not have an autopsy performed.

Basically, I was told to find a not so high profile attorney to handle my case as it was too much time and not enough return for these top of the line attorneys to take this case.

I thought attorneys were for the people and not for the money they would receive. I am truly disappointed with attorneys and would love to find one who can help me. I know they would not get rich but I would love justice done to this nursing home. Somewhere, somehow, someone needs to bring into the open the abuse that our elderly receive. The tv's show the high profile cases but what about the average abuse and horrible treatment that goes unvoiced?

thank you for reading this.

There are various factors that go into a lawfirms decision when accepting or declining a case. While sometimes there may be wrong doing, it is not always possible to make a claim. This can be because of several different factors including evidence, witnesses and timing.
