Doctors are finding yet another way to try and avoid medical malpractice lawsuits. Doctors are now turning to researchers who are "scientifically" reviewing medical malpractice lawsuits. These new companies are attempting to discover new ways doctors can avoid medical malpractice litigation and are eager to share with curious doctors.

The real question is, why is everyone spending so much time on how to get around medical malpractice lawsuits instead of trying to practice better medicine? Doctors face lawsuits when they make mistakes that should not have been made. These are not small mistakes either. These are mistakes that cost people their lives or cause people discomfort and pain they do not deserve to have.

Some doctors argue that greed causes these lawsuits. Greed may be to blame, but not the patients greed. It's the doctors and insurance companies greed. If a mistake is made and a doctor owns up to it, the insurance is paid and the patient can be on his way and begin the healing process. However, when the doctor and/or insurance company does not want to admit to the mistake then lawsuits arise. Everyone makes mistakes and that is why professional and personal insurance exists. Maybe it's time the insurance companies stop being so greedy with their money and start paying when they should and leave the courts to sort out the lawsuits where the fault is truly not clear.
