The FDA has issued a new update on the salmonella recall. The latest update was issued on March 9, 2007 and extended the time frame of possible affected Peter Pan peanut butter. The new update says that consumers should not eat any peanut butter beginning with the code 2111 that was bought as far back as October 2004. The previous warning only extended to peanut butter bought as far back as August 2006.

There have been hundreds of cases across the country of salmonella poisoning as a result of consumers eating the peanut butter. Several cases have surfaced in Illinois and lawsuits have begun to be filed. Consumers should now be concerned with illness that may have been caused by the peanut butter as far back as October 2004. If you developed symptoms consistent with salmonella, you are urged to contact an attorney and do not throw away the peanut butter if it is still in your possession.
