A salmonella outbreak has affected several Kane County residents over the past year. A source has not been revealed at this time, but it is known that at least 35 cases have been reported in the past 14 months. Of these 35 cases, 22 have been reported in the Hispanic community. An additional 6 cases have also been reported but are currently unconfirmed.

There are other cases of the same infection that have been reported in the following counties, Cook, DuPage, DeKalb, Kendall, McHenry and Winnebago. It is unknown at this time if this outbreak is related to the recent salmonella outbreak caused by peanut butter.
