Victoria's Secret is Out - She's Putting Formaldehyde in Her Bras

Women are continuing to complain about the terrible side effects that they have experienced and still are experiencing as a result of wearing Victoria's Secret's bras. While at first glance this may seem like a frivolous complaint, it is far from frivolous. Women across the country are complaining of symptoms that have persisted for months including blisters that are bleeding and cracking, extreme breast swelling, itching and bruising. Some women have such severe symptoms they are unable to sleep at night. Many of these women and their doctors had no idea these symptoms were a result of the bras the women were wearing so they continued to wear the bras, which resulted in ongoing symptoms, lasting well beyond a few days or a few weeks.

Victoria's Secret continues to deny the use of formaldehyde in their bras, but the complaints of women experiencing these horrific side effects tells a different story. The women suffering from these symptoms have a right to take legal action against Victoria's Secret for putting a defective and dangerous product on the market that has caused them discomfort, harm, fear and in some cases, severe infections.

If you have experienced any of these symptoms, contact a doctor immediately. It is important to seek medical attention to determine if your symptoms are a result of exposure to formaldehyde or due to something else. After seeking medical attention, contact an attorney to learn what your legal rights are and what action you may take against Victoria's Secret.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
Cough Syrup Sends Children to Hospital

It is not uncommon for children to wind up in the emergency room after ingesting too much cough syrup. In fact each year it is estimated that approximately 7,000 children end up in the emergency room after receiving too much cough medicine. The CDC has recently posted warnings about the dangers of giving children under 2 cough medicine.

Most of the children sent to the emergency room after ingesting cough medicine are under 2 years of age. Many of these children are often told the medicine is candy and are encouraged to take it, however, the CDC warns that this message confuses children and may cause them to take the medication on their own if they come in contact with it. It should be made clear to children that they are taking medication to make them feel better and not candy.

If you believe your child has become sick as a result of ingesting too much medication you should contact your physician immediately. Many times children become sick as a result of too much medication, but there are times the dosages are improper for young children. If your child has become sick after ingesting the proper amount of medication whether it is cough medicine or other medication, contact an attorney to learn your legal rights. You may be able to take action against the prescribing doctor or the manufacturer of the prescription drug.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
Complaints of Rashes and Blistering from Victoria's Secrets' Bras Continue

More and more women have been complaining in recent days of Victoria's Secrets' bras causing them rashes and blisters. Several of these women have been suffering for months not knowing until recently the bras were the cause of their pain and discomfort.

An initial case was filed against Victoria's Secret in Ohio after a woman discovered there was formaldehyde in her bra, and the chemical was causing her a severe rash. Recently, the problem has been brought to the attention of consumers and now many women are coming forward with the same symptoms. Despite these complaints, Victoria's Secret is currently denying it uses formaldehyde in its bras and has not recalled any bras. Some of the affected bras are believed to be the Angels Secret Embrace and the Very Sexy Extreme Me Push-Up.

If you are suffering from these symptoms and wearing a Victoria's Secret bra, you should discontinue wearing the bra immediately. You should also consult a physician about your symptoms as well as the fact that you have been wearing a Victoria's Secret bra. Do not discard the bra. To find out if you have a possible claim against Victoria's Secret, contact an attorney immediately.
Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
Latest Toy Recall Linked To Date Rape Drug

The latest toy recall was announced today. A very popular toy, Aqua Dots, was recalled after it was found that the chemical in the toy when ingested turns into the date rape drug gamma hydroxy butyrate or ghb. There have been reports of children ingesting parts from the toy and becoming lethargic, vomiting and even lapsing into a coma. If ingested, the toy can also cause seizures or death.

This is just one of the latest toy recalls involving a toy in the United States that was imported from China. Aqua Dots which were sold throughout the U.S., and in Australia as Bindeez Dots, are now being pulled off of shelves. If you have Aqua Dots you should dispose of the toy immediately.

If your child has had any of the above symptoms and might have ingested beads from Aqua Dots contact a physician immediately. The side effects can be life threatening.

If your child has been affected by the recall contact an attorney to find out what legal action you may be able to take. You should keep the beads if a safe place where your child cannot reach them while your possible claim is being investigated.

For more information on this subject, please refer to the section on Defective and Dangerous Products.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
Beware of "Gastric Bypass Pill" Puffing

Watch out for ads for a supplement about Zetacap, which is being touted as a gastric bypass pill, far cheaper than surgery. The pill does not require a doctor's prescription because it contains all-natural ingredients which have nothing to do with weight loss.

The company who makes Zetacap claims it contains a secret they call "visco-fiber" which supposedly fills up your stomach making you "feel full," and yjsy it can transform a person's body within 90 days. Diet experts suspect it's all a con and warn buyers to beware.

Like other most dietary supplements, this pill has not been evaluated and approved by the FDA (due to its natural ingredients like St. John's wort, Echinacea and Valerian). Rather than taking the risk of using something that has not been studied by the FDA, you may want to eat smaller portions and exercise.

Baby Lotions, Shampoos, and Powder Can Expose Children to Chemicals

According to a study, baby shampoos, lotions and powders may expose young children to chemicals that are linked with potential reproductive problems. The chemicals are called phthalates and can be found in numerous products such as cosmetics, toys, vinyl flooring and medical supplies. Phthalates are for stabilizing fragrances and making plastics flexible. The study found higher than normal levels in infant's urine who had recently shampooed, powdered or lotioned with baby products.

Phthalates (pronounced thowl-ates) are under attack by some environmental advocacy groups, but experts are uncertain what dangers, if any, they might pose. The federal government doesn't limit their use, although California and some countries have restricted their use. Animal studies have suggested that phthalates can cause reproductive birth defects and some activists believe they may cause reproductive problems in boys and early puberty in girls.

The study did not actually find evidence that the baby products used by these infants contained the chemical, and there has been no evidence that the chemical caused the children any harm. But the results worry groups that are for restriction of the chemical.

The chemical phthalates is normally not listed on product labels because retailers are not required to list all the ingredients of fragrances. But parents can look for products labeled with "phthalate-free," or check labels for common phthalates, including DEP and DEHP.

The FDA has not found any evidence that phthalates pose a safety risk when used in cosmetics and the CDC says the health effects in humans is not certain.

The new study, which appears in February's issue of the journal Pediatrics, involved 163 babies. Most were white, ages 2 to 28 months and living in California, Minnesota and Missouri. The researchers measured levels of several phthalates in urine from diapers. They also asked the mothers about use in the previous 24 hours of baby products including lotions, powders, diaper creams and baby wipes.

All of the urine samples had at least one phthalate, and most had levels of many more but the highest levels were linked with the baby shampoos, lotions and powders, and were found most in infants 8 months or younger. Unfortunately, the study did not test the products for the chemical or control for other ways of exposure.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jenny Albano

Chicago and Cook County Salmonella Cases Linked to Tomatoes

The recent outbreak of salmonella linked to tomatoes has affected several people in Chicago and the Cook County suburbs. At least seven cases have been reported at this time but many more may be reported in the coming weeks. The strain of salmonella from the seven reports is the same strain linked to the recent outbreak. In addition to these seven cases there are at least another 270 cases reported nationwide.

The FDA has issued warnings against eating tomatoes that are raw red plum, raw red round and red Roma. Not only should consumers avoid these types of raw tomatoes, they should also avoid eating any foods with these raw tomatoes as an ingredient. There are, however, some exceptions to this warning. Tomatoes from several states and countries have been approved as safe. A list can be found on the FDA website.

If you have eaten any of the above listed tomatoes and subsequently suffered from stomach flu like symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and/or fever, you may have contracted Salmonella. You should seek medical attention immediately if you believe you may have contracted Salmonella. While Salmonella may resolve over time, it can be life threatening, especially in the young, elderly and those with compromised immune systems.

If you believe you have contracted Salmonella as a result of eating contaminated tomatoes, you may be able to make a claim against the tomato manufacturer. You should contact an attorney to learn more about what your rights are and to determine if you should take legal action.
Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
Popcorn Flavoring Causes Lung Problems in Workers

The chemical diacetyl is used in popcorn to create the buttery flavor many Americans enjoy. It is also used to create flavoring in candy and often baked goods. The problem, however, is the chemical has been linked to severe lung problems in workers in plants that produce these products.

Recently, the four biggest microwave popcorn manufacturers in the US announced they were removing the chemical from their products. This is a big step going forward, but unfortunately many workers have already been affected by working with diacetyl and the effects are irreversible.

Many workers have become sick after repeated exposure to diacetyl. These people have a right to file a claim for the harm that has been caused to them and to seek recovery for medical bills, pain and suffering and their deteriorating health. The chemical is so harmful it can lead to death.

If you or someone you know has become sick after working at a popcorn plant or a plant that makes candy or bake goods, contact an attorney. You may be able to recover for your illness.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
Formaldehyde Discovered In Victoria's Secret's Bras

Several complaints have recently surfaced and lawsuits are being filed as a result of women developing rashes and hives after wearing Victoria's Secret's bras. The rashes have resulted in extreme pain, inflammation and can leave scars. It is believed that formaldehyde is being used in the bras and causing the reaction.

Victoria's Secret has acknowledged they have received complaints, but the bras are still being sold. The bras that are causing the reactions are believed to include the Angels Secret Embrace bra and the Very Sexy Extreme Push-Up bra, though others may also cause a reaction.

If you believe you have side effects from wearing a Victoria's Secret bra you should seek medical attention. Do not dispose of the bra. You should also contact an attorney to find out what your legal rights are and if you have a potential claim.
Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
Pet Food Recall Expanded Again

According to the FDA, Natural Balance Pet Food has issued a recall on two of its pet food lines due to complaints of pets becoming ill and experiencing kidney failure. These symptoms are the same symptoms pet owners were complaining of after feeding their pets various brands of pet food that have now been recalled by Menu Foods.

The pet foods currently being recalled by Natural Balance are Venison and Brown Rice Dry Dog Food and Green Pea Dry Cat Food. There is no information at this time regarding what is causing the pets who eat these two types of food to become ill.

To date hundreds if not thousands of dogs and cats have fallen ill after consuming recalled pet food from Menu Foods. Menu Foods recalled at least 60 million cans of food last month. The recall was prompted after several pets died after ingesting the food.

If your pet has become ill or died after eating the recalled pet food contact an attorney immediately. You may have be able to take legal action against Menu Foods. Do not throw away the pet food if it is still in your possession. Instead keep it in a safe place where your pet cannot eat it.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
