FDA Finds Adderall Risk To Children

Responding to a 2005 Study, the FDA Advisory Committee has found a link between Adderall, a popular drug for children with attention deficity hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and an increased risk of heart attacks, strokes, and death. The Chairman of the FDA Drug and Risk Management Advisory Committee said that the panel will need to find a safe way to study the risks while the drug is still being prescribed. Canada has withdrawn the extended release version of the product from the market, and the USA has ordered stronger warning labels. In the mean time, I suggest that parents of ADHD children discuss their child's prescriptions with their physicians and demand increased monitoring for negative side effects.
