Washington Jury Corrals Moose Lodge

Private Clubs like to keep secrets but, fortunately, a zealous plaintiff attorney circumvented the "veil of silence" which the Moose Lodge put up to protect itself from liability, when a drunk member drove on the wrong side of the road and paralyzed a 7-year-old boy and injured his other family members. After a four week trial, the Whatcom County Jury awarded the family $14 Million to compensate for necessary living and school arrangements, as well as disablity compensation for the other family members.

After the initial investigation provided only the misinformation that the driver consumed the typical "two beers" at the club; delving into the employment history revealed that the bartender's background had never been checked, and former employers testified that the defendant had followed this particular bartender from bar to bar and drank with her after hours. Congratulations to the attorneys for digging deep enough to find justice. To read more about the case, Faust v. Bellingham Moose Lodge No. 493, visit www.atla.org
