The family of an 18 year old man filed a lawsuit against Cooper Tire & Rubber Company after the man was killed when a tire blew out of the vehicle he was a passenger in and caused the vehicle to flip several times and eject the man. He died at the scene of the accident.

While the assumption by many involved in a car accident is often the accident was caused by the negligence of a driver, there are many times when the fault lies with the vehicle or vehicle parts manufacturer. As seen in this tragic Florida accident, the cause of the accident appears to be a faulty tire, and not the actions of the driver.

It is important to always stay current with information related to your vehicle, including checking periodically for recalls and keeping your car well maintained. Even with these precautions, however, there are still times when a car owner may not be able to prevent a collision from a defective vehicle. There are times when a recall is not announced in time or a vehicle defect is specific to your vehicle and a recall may never be issued.

If you have been injured in a car accident and you believe it may have been because of defective vehicle parts, such as seatbelts, airbags, brakes, tires or another part, contact an attorney. You may be able to make a claim against the manufacturer for your injuries.
