A car struck three people and another car on January 17, 2007 in the South Side's Back of the Yards neighborhood. The three people that were struck appeared to be entering a crosswalk when they were hit by the offending car.

The car hit two children and one elderly woman and then struck another car. One child was killed and another was reported in very serious condition. The drive of the vehicle that struck and killed the 7 year old child appeared intoxicated.

The intoxicated drived may have a long road ahead of him because of his decision to drive drunk. It appears from initial reports that one child died at the scene and the other child and elderly woman in the crosswalk are seriously injured. There is no information about the three people injured in the vehicle that caused the accident.
