Victoria's Secret is Out - She's Putting Formaldehyde in Her Bras

Women are continuing to complain about the terrible side effects that they have experienced and still are experiencing as a result of wearing Victoria's Secret's bras. While at first glance this may seem like a frivolous complaint, it is far from frivolous. Women across the country are complaining of symptoms that have persisted for months including blisters that are bleeding and cracking, extreme breast swelling, itching and bruising. Some women have such severe symptoms they are unable to sleep at night. Many of these women and their doctors had no idea these symptoms were a result of the bras the women were wearing so they continued to wear the bras, which resulted in ongoing symptoms, lasting well beyond a few days or a few weeks.

Victoria's Secret continues to deny the use of formaldehyde in their bras, but the complaints of women experiencing these horrific side effects tells a different story. The women suffering from these symptoms have a right to take legal action against Victoria's Secret for putting a defective and dangerous product on the market that has caused them discomfort, harm, fear and in some cases, severe infections.

If you have experienced any of these symptoms, contact a doctor immediately. It is important to seek medical attention to determine if your symptoms are a result of exposure to formaldehyde or due to something else. After seeking medical attention, contact an attorney to learn what your legal rights are and what action you may take against Victoria's Secret.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
FDA Announces Hydroxycut Recall

The FDA announced today that people using Hydroxycut products should discontinue use immediately. Hydroxycut has been linked to liver problems, including liver failure. There has been at least one reported death related to the product. There have also been reports of seizures, muscle damage, kidney failure, cardiovascular problems and other serious health problems related to taking Hydroxycut.

Anyone who is taking Hydroxycut should stop and seek medical attention if they are experiencing any of the above side effects. Some of the symptoms of liver failure include jaundice, brown urine, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, abdominal pain, weakness, itching and loss of appetite.

If you believe you have suffered from or are suffering from an adverse reaction as a result of taking Hydroxycut products, you should contact an attorney immediately. You may be entitled to compensation for your injuries.
Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
Giving Back - Nintendo Wii Finds a Home at Helping Hand Rehabilitation Center

Today I was fortunate enough to be able to take the time to give back to the community. I spend most of my time in my office trying to help my clients that have been hurt and are trying to recover through use of the legal system. While this is what I do most days, many of my clients' recoveries occur outside of the courtroom and in facilities like Helping Hand.

Helping Hand Rehabilitation Center is located in Countryside, Illinois and is a facility focusing on children and adults with special needs. Many of the clients at Helping Hand have life long disabilities while others have disabilities that have developed later in life. Whether it is a new obstacle or one that has been with a client for years, the staff at Helping Hand work tirelessly to make certain each client receives the attention and care necessary. This is achieved through vocation programs, physical therapy, education, occupational therapy, art therapy, music therapy as well as many other opportunities. The facility gives many people young and old opportunities that may not otherwise be readily available in the community. The commitment Helping Hand has to assisting people is truly admirable.

I arrived this morning at Helping Hand to donate a Nintendo Wii with Wii Fit Board for use at Helping Hand. The hope is that the Wii will be integrated into one of the many programs at Helping Hand to give the clients a new opportunity to achieve success. Recently, there has been a push to use the Wii as an alternative to physical therapy as well as other types of therapy. It gives people a new twist on conventional therapy and often helps to motivate people who are faced with difficult and painful therapy.

Our firm hopes that this donation will help the clients at Helping Hand and make their experience more enjoyable. It was truly a pleasure to spend the morning at Helping Hand, and I look forward to spending time with the clients and staff at the center in the future.
Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
Formaldehyde Discovered In Victoria's Secret's Bras

Several complaints have recently surfaced and lawsuits are being filed as a result of women developing rashes and hives after wearing Victoria's Secret's bras. The rashes have resulted in extreme pain, inflammation and can leave scars. It is believed that formaldehyde is being used in the bras and causing the reaction.

Victoria's Secret has acknowledged they have received complaints, but the bras are still being sold. The bras that are causing the reactions are believed to include the Angels Secret Embrace bra and the Very Sexy Extreme Push-Up bra, though others may also cause a reaction.

If you believe you have side effects from wearing a Victoria's Secret bra you should seek medical attention. Do not dispose of the bra. You should also contact an attorney to find out what your legal rights are and if you have a potential claim.
Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
Motorcyclist Killed in Chicago Suburbs

A Bridgeview man was killed on Saturday after his motorcycle crashed into a truck. Joseph Suski was 49 years old when he died. He was wearing a helmet but still suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the truck was not injured.

The reports at this time do not indicate if the accident that caused Suski's death was his own fault or the fault of the driver of the truck. The accident occurred on the Frontage Road between Black Road and Illinois Route 52. Suski's family may have a claim of wrongful death against the man driving the truck if he is found to be at fault for the accident.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
Nursing Home Abuse Lawsuit Filed On Behalf of Former NYC Cop

The family of a former New York City police officer who died three years ago has filed a nursing home neglect lawsuit against Brooklyn's Metropolitan Jewish Geriatric Center.

Abraham Ticknor lived at the nursing home from the time he suffered a stroke in the mid 1990s until his death in 2003.

His daughter says that beginning in March 2003, the geriatric center did nothing to prevent massive bed sores from developing, and at one point even put a shoe over a foot ulcer.

In what is possibly the most disturbing allegation, Skier claims in legal papers that Ticknor had some sort of "phone-like" cord inserted into his rectum at Maimonides, and that it remained there for days.

The nursing home has been cited before for negligent care resulting in bedsores. It was fined $4000 by the Department of Health in 2001.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
Serious Side Effects Including Death Related to Yas and Yasmin Birth Control Pills

Most prescription medications, if not all, come with their share of side effects. Recently, however, one prescription has been noticed in both the medical and legal community for the extensive side effects that it has caused. The birth control pill Yaz or Yasmin has now been linked to blood clots, pulmonary embolism, stroke, heart attack, gallbladder problems and other injuries. There are of course milder side effects that are perfectly normal, such as a decrease in sex drive, headaches, decrease in appetite, nausea, and weight gain. However, if these side effects persist, or begin to develop in more serious symptoms, then seeking medical and legal help is not only the intelligent choice, but should be made quickly after these symptoms begin.

Yaz is also catching flak in the legal community for a misleading and false advertising campaign. This false advertising campaign has caused many women to face irreversible side effects, triggering multiple federal law suits. The Yaz campaign made false claims about the drugs benefit to it’s users, and also shielded the advertisements from discussions of the serious side effects such as blood clots. As a result of these ad campaigns women began taking the pill without full knowledge of the health risks that were associated with the drug.

The reason why Yaz is causing such life threatening injuries to women is that the drug contains a synthetic type of progestin labeled as drospirenone. Drospirenonne is a progestin that leads to hyperkalemia, a condition that is triggered by excessive amounts of potassium in the blood. This build up is one of the many causes of the Yaz side effects such as heart attacks, stroke, and deep vein thrombosis.

With the false advertising and dangerous elements contained within the Yaz birth control medication, many women are finding these side effects serious and in need of medical attention. Medical attention that should be compensated by the company, Bayer, who produced Yaz and the Yaz advertising campaign. If you, or anyone you know, is taking the Yaz birth control medication and suffering from these side effects, please contact legal and medical support immediately. Being safe begins with being informed.
Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
Missing Loved Ones at Burr Oak Cemetery

The Burr Oak Cemetery in Alsip, Illinois is being investigated after news broke last week that cemetery workers were removing bodies previously buried at the cemetery and reselling the plots. Since the announcement many people have gone to the cemetery only to find their loved ones headstones in the wrong place or completely removed. It is believed a mass grave was created where hundreds of dug up bodies were reburied so plots could be resold for new burials. The reselling of plots brought in approximately $300,000 to the cemetery.

At this time family members of loved ones buried at the cemetery are not allowed into the cemetery but may go to the cemetery to give authorities information about their loved ones plots and burials. Authorities are currently trying to identify over 100,000 graves.

If your loved one was buried at the Burr Oak Cemetery and you believe the plot may have been disturbed, you have a right to recover against the cemetery. Contact an attorney immediately to learn what your rights are.
Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
Girls Feet Amputated After Six Flag Ride Fails

A thirteen year old girl's feet were amputated after a ride at Kentucky's Six Flags theme park malfunctioned. The Superman ride at the theme park raises riders into the air 154 feet and drops them at a rate of 54 miles per hour. The ride stops just 20 feet before the riders hit the ground. It is believed that a cable broke during the ride and became wrapped around the girl's feet causing them to be amputated at the ankles. Her feet were recovered and brought to the hospital where she underwent surgery.

This is not the first accident in Six Flag's long history. There have been a handful of past accidents at the various theme parks around the country and some have resulted in death. Six Flags will have a lot of answering to do regarding this most recent incident and will likely face a lawsuit for the injuries the young girl received in the incident.

For more information on this subject, please refer to our section on Property Owners' Liability.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Jamie G.
Beware of "Gastric Bypass Pill" Puffing

Watch out for ads for a supplement about Zetacap, which is being touted as a gastric bypass pill, far cheaper than surgery. The pill does not require a doctor's prescription because it contains all-natural ingredients which have nothing to do with weight loss.

The company who makes Zetacap claims it contains a secret they call "visco-fiber" which supposedly fills up your stomach making you "feel full," and yjsy it can transform a person's body within 90 days. Diet experts suspect it's all a con and warn buyers to beware.

Like other most dietary supplements, this pill has not been evaluated and approved by the FDA (due to its natural ingredients like St. John's wort, Echinacea and Valerian). Rather than taking the risk of using something that has not been studied by the FDA, you may want to eat smaller portions and exercise.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Staff Writer
